double double this that

WHOA.

this weekend was the weekend prince gave us this ethical intuition that we MUST revamp furniture and bake cakes... and that is just what we did. this post is debuting the first and the best of both worlds at pony island. Shown above is Ara's delicious devil's food cake with darrrk chocolate ganache. It makes me sad that we ate is so quickly! The recipe came from David Lebovitz... that American Frenchman can do no wrong. We also added our own touch by using up those 3 strawberries left in the fridge. I'm pretty sure that was a great decision.

With all excitement of a dry and sunny week, we also got around to redoing this sunbleached, wooden fold up chair jen and i found... somewhere. I can't remember exactly, but it was undoubtedly either the Bins (goodwill outlet store) or the regular goodwill. We picked out this beautiful saffron color and I whipped up some crazy art nouveau inspired motif. After some blood, sweat, and definitely tears, maybe due to those spray paint fumes, this is what we got. WELL, that's the update for now - I better get to class!

And don't worry, in posts to come we will be so tactful as to remember to take BEFORE photos as well...

what that really means...

okay, so that last post was just a teaser. basically, jen and i are going to 'upcycle' furniture by thrifting for pieces that seem to have potential, and then fixing them up/adding our own twist to things. we've been doing this here and there for a while now, and now we're running out of room for things - so we thought we'd take it to the next step. i'll be posting our latest projects on the blog, as well as on our etsy store (coming soon), possibly eBay, and possibly at craft fair/swap meet sort of events around town. we are also considering offering a sort of come-to service where you guys can bring your old furniture that you never got around to painting, or that you don't have the supplies for, and we can just fancy up the stuff you already have lying around.

also! ara is thinking of adding another sensorial dimension by offering up delicious treats such as cakes, muffins, cookies, whatever you want (however you want i.e. vegan). this branch of the blog will probably stay local for the most part to keep things simple.

it doesn't get much better than cute food, cute chairs, and delicious sugars in your mouth! so that's the direction we're going to take. i'm going to add our latest stuff shortly and get everything all caught up.

!!?

so here at Pony Island, jen and i were basking under the glory of Prince and The Favorite Cat (on your right), and had a revelation (notice the floating orbs):

old chairs + us = !!
